ACC Nation bids farewell
Patrick and Q are hanging it up over at their fine ACC Nation site in the next week or so. Blog, podcast, everything. Sad to see them go, but it's understandable. Check out their site while you still can.

Monday ACC Blog Tour
...Ramblin' Racket has a new favorite blog. I truly appreciate the love, but this affair could end badly if the Jackets make me look like a doof this season.
...Tomahawk Nation has some tidy updates of the latest Seminole practices.
...Mobius at The Chop Shop - my favorite FSU blog from last year - has informed me that he won't be posting this year. Dammit.
...Tar Heel Fan called it correctly last week when he picked TJ Yates as starting QB. Good to see that Butch Davis agrees. Sort of.
...Section Six appears to be sweating out the opener with UCF. I think the Wolfpack will be fine.
...Mahini at The Sabre articulated what I wanted to say about Michael Tauiliili's return to the Blue Devils, but didn't have the heart to (you know, because of the chaotic overreaction to the lacrosse episode, and the general suckitude of the football program).
...Turtle Waxing joins an ever increasing legion that sees things playing out a bit differently than I do in the ACC this season. Must. Keep. Faith.
...And last but most certainly not least, the godfather of ACC bloggers is hanging it up. Dave of "Dave Sez" fame is riding off into the sunset. Best wishes.

Elsewhere in the ACC Blogosphere...
...the fine BC blog Heights and Lows waxes over the seeming disrespect thrust at Coach Jeff Jagodzinksi throughout the preseason. Personally, I don't think it's disrespect...it's a guarded, wait-and-see attitude. The guy's never been a head coach before. He had to replace his own OL coach in April, and he brings a distinctly different attitude and approach than did Tom O'Brien. And then, it's not like the Eagles operate in a vacuum. When you mix in the major changes at Florida State, the side stepping of O'Brien and his staff to NC State, and the "what to make of Wake" factor - and that's just in their own division - it's not hard to see why folks are holding back on BC-to-the-BCS predictions.
...Section Six continues to express his unmitigated delight over the end of the Amato Era. The glee at BC for being rid of O'Brien, and the joy at NC State for having him never ceases to amuse me.

...Carolina March has a dandy write-up on ACC out of conference foes this season. You'd think that fella who muses about the entire ACC should have written that.
Many of my ACC blogging muchachos are still on a summer siesta, but go ahead and click over to them periodically over the next few weeks to see if their hibernations have come to an end.

ACC Blog Check
Before we go on our quick journey through the ACC Blogosphere, allow me to express my condolences to the University of Miami family on the senseless loss of Bryan Pata.
--The Miami blog Out of Kilter has the latest on the Pata tragedy.
--Sporting Gnomes has the requisite perspective piece on Clemson football, something none of us thought we'd have to read this year, heck even two weeks ago. Funny game, this college football.
--Mobius at The Chop Shop has chimed in with his national-championship format that I find quite reasonable. And if we ever do get a real "Bowl Championship Series" (and whoever thought of that moniker should be shot, but that's another post altogether), in my opinion it will look very much like Mobius' plan.
--Eagle in Atlanta has his usual spot-on weekly review of his Eagles, complete with the obligatory blaming of Tom O'Brien for their defeat at Wake.
--Gotta love UNC fans. Butch Davis hasn't even signed a contract yet and they're already speculating on how long he stays in Chapel Hill. Carolina March has a sane perspective on that topic.
--MadJay at TechSuperfans has a very nice review of the Hokies' victory at Miami, although I take issue with his ranking of the Tech and Cane overall defenses.

Around the ACC Blogosphere
--Eagle in Atlanta gives props to Tom O'Brien for taking the safety late against FSU. As an FSU fan, I found the call to be inexplicably bad but very generous. But what the hey, BC still won...barely.
--With the national sports media frothing over "Thunder and Lightning" James Davis and CJ Spiller, Sporting Gnomes chimes in to say that Clemson's defense wasn't too shabby either last Saturday night. Four words: Calvin Johnson, zero catches. Bravo Tigers!
--Mobius at The Chop Shop has his Good/Bad/Ugly take on the 'Noles loss to Boston College. And he's still far too optimistic about the program than he should be.
--The Georgia Tech Sports Blog is right on target about Clemson's beat down of the Jackets: Clemson's better, get over it, the Miami game is now the biggest matchup of the year.
--Turtle Waxing is clearly more interested in Miami than he is about his own 5-2 Terps. He also thinks the ACC sold it's soul in expansion by allowing Miami, BC and VA Tech in the club which is simply bass-ackwards thinking in this day and age.
--Out of Kilter has a succint yet comprehensive take on the Canes near-loss at Duke.
--Heels Blog and Carolina March don't have much to say on the loooooooong overdue firing of John Bunting.....
--However, the fellas at State Fans Nation and Section Six have a bit more to say on the Bunting matter.

--Eagle in Atlanta gives a hearty thumbs up after BC's thrashing of Virginia Tech. And this may be his first post all year that does not include a Tom O'Brien bashing.
--For all you math nerds, Clem at Sporting Gnomes has a superb statistical analysis preview of the Clemson-Georgia Tech showdown this Saturday.
--Mobius at The Chop Shop is curiously optimistic about the Seminoles in general. Isn't optimism (or maybe it's "acceptance") one of those stages of loss that come after denial, anger, hopelessness?
--The dude at Georgia Tech Sports Blog has a nice breakdown of the recent history of the Jacket-Tiger Rivalry. Clemson-GT has always been one of my favorite ACC games each year.
--Turtle Waxing's Esquire doesn't seem all that jazzed about the Terps even after the incredible comeback win over Virginia. Oh wait....over Virginia....maybe he's got a point.
