Week 6 Preview: More Gut Feelings, or Perhaps That's an Ulcer

Last week proved I could be just as wrong with my gut instincts as I've been with more detailed analysis. So I shall take the path of least resistance this week on my march to documented idiocy...

DUKE (3-1) at GEORGIA TECH (3-1)

WESTERN KENTUCKY (2-3) at VIRGINIA TECH (4-1)

Saturday, 10/4/08, 1:30pm ET - Lane Stadium, Blacksburg, VA

FLORIDA STATE (3-1) at MIAMI (2-2)
Saturday, 10/4/08, 3:30pm ET - Dolphin Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
Series Record: Miami leads 30-22; the Hurricanes won last year's meeting 37-29
Gut Feeling: After last year's cluster (Kirby Freeman?!), I may never pick the Noles in this series again. Miami 17, Florida State 14

CONNECTICUT (5-0) at NORTH CAROLINA (3-1)
Saturday, 10/4/08, 7pm ET - Kenan Stadium, Chapel Hill, NC
Series Record: North Carolina leads 1-0; the Tar Heels won the previous meeting 48-21 in 1990
Gut Feeling: The Heels win the battle of the backup quarterbacks. North Carolina 31, Connecticut 17

MARYLAND (4-1) at VIRGINIA (1-3)
Saturday, 10/4/08, 7pm ET - Scott Stadium, Charlottesville, VA
Series Record: Maryland leads 41-29-2; the Cavaliers won last year's meeting 18-17
Gut Feeling: The season from hell in Charlottesville continues. Maryland 35, Virginia 14

And we're done.

I know that FSU has been struggling, but saying that you may never pick them in their series with Miami again may be the stupidest thing you ever said concerning football. You must not follow FSU that closely. They are going to get a lot better much sooner than you think.

Oh I don't know, I only graduated from FSU in 1995 and am quite familiar with the current state of the program.

Saying I'll never pick FSU against Miami again is merely using history as evidence. And it's also tongue-in-cheek. Chill, my fellow Nole.

The youngest offensive line in the country isn't that bad and they are only going to get better. Our defense is nothing to be ashamed of. We have a couple of young 1st & 2nd stringer quarterbacks who, with Jimbo's help, get a lot better. Not to mention E.J. Manuel right behind them.If our recievers can just learn how to catch a little better, then we have the making of a very good team ( possibly a great team in a couple more years.
p.s. I know your a FSU alumni and you keep up with the program, but I don't think that you realize how close we are.
